Kevin, thanks for your input. This is not about turning off life support, something that can be completely unreasonable many times, barely keeping someone alive and staving off death. They're killing these babies that are far from death, who might even have hope.

But, of course, I was being a tad bit silly, of course it's a question that needs meditation.

We already have down syndrome abortions in this country; who knows what's next?

Put me in Tpye 1. Although I would like to note that I do not think it is a good ting to put a child on life-support for the entire life.

Examples include extremely premature births, ... where a child could only survive on life support for the rest of its life

This of course raises the painful question: If the child will die without life support, should we let him/her suffer untill they die naturally, which may be weeks or months of suffering? One side of my brain (the side that wins... until it is *my* child suffering maybe) says that we should not take their life, but leave it in God's hands. Another side of my brain, the same side that would euthanize a pet dog to put it out of it's suffering, would say that we should show the child at least the same respect and curtesy that we should show an animal, and that we would want shown to us if we were suffering with no hope of recovery. This might tempt me to turn to euthanasia... although I know that it is wrong. Sometimes my emotions and my human logic gets the better of me and I second guess the higher logic.

Anyway, without being in the position to have to choose for my own family, I choose against euthanazia, but I make no judgements on those who are in such a painful position , one that I can not even imagine, and may chose the other route.
