98% is close, but humans are still humans. Evolution vs creationism vs intelligent design doesn't matter to me - God chose humanity.

Trying to figure out the restaurant.... we've been to quite a few in Cinci but that one doesn't look familiar.

you wont hear me arguing that monkes and humans are the same, but you also wont hear me arguing that humans are somehow "more civilized" than monekys... There are humans out there who eat turds too, and can't resist other seemingly "animal" urges... You can't tell me that having so many sex partners as many of the people I know is somehow not being controlled by some kind of primitive animal urge.

I thnk you hit the nail on the head with your recent post about monkeys language. The point is not do they have language, but rather, how do we treat them. If we look at the way we treat these animals, it would almost be easier to argue that animals are "higher" life-forms. Just because we are the ones who are created special by God and can be saved, doesn't mean that the others are "lower". It just means that we have more responsibility, and unfortunatly we have (so far) completely failed to live up to that responsibility.

"Completely failed to live up to that responsibility"? Uh, maybe some of us do. But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. There have been literally millions upon millions of people who have lived whose lives have lived up to it and more.

The argument that as a civilization we have utterly failed is in some ways true, but others completely false. Look at simply the albeit short historied US of A. We've done more in the way of humanitarian aid for others (without payment expected in return) than arguably any civilization in history has. Does this mean we do everything right? No, but to say we've failed at all of the responsibilities we're given is simply not true.

"We've done more in the way of humanitarian aid for others than arguably any civilization in history has."

This is true and I am happy for it. But we (people of the earth in the last 150 years or so) have also done more in the way of causing social, ecological and humanitarian problems than arguably any civilization in history has. I just think that to fullfill our responsiblily also means to elminate our contribution to many of the problems we are sending aid to fix.

"(without payment expected in return) "

This is nothing to be especially proud of, it is expected that we expect nothing in return.

NOTE: I'm not sure who you mean by "We've".. I was talking about the people of the earth in general, not just the US, but it's not really relevant... just wanted to be clear.
