<description>As one of the question on my leading ;) poll tried to imply, even if you don&#039;t feel that eating meat is morally wrong for whatever reason, if you feel that people have eaten meat since creation, so how can it be wrong, or that God gave it too us as a gift, so how can it be wrong... (which I do believe)

Well, the difference between now and even 100 years ago is a couple billion people and *very* irresponsible (from a stweardship standpoint) methods of mass-producing that meat.

God does not *order* us to eat meat, though He allows it, but does put us in charge of taking care of this planet. At this point in history, one choice we have to make in order to take care of the planet is to eat less meat. It has nothing to do with animal rights.

Although, I would point out that while science is making great finds (as you mention above) regarding un-born children, it is also proving that animals are smarter than we think, and have feelings, language, and are &quot;closer&quot; to humans than we ever thought before. This is not to say they have souls, but even if they did, the soul is not what I would be worried about when they are packed together, debeaked, shot full of hormones, and basically treated worse than we treat our non-living, non-feeling &quot;stuff&quot;... how many people do you know that would get upset if their car is dented... but debeaking a living creature? Ahh. no prob. It&#039;s the way nature is.
