(DV) Berkowitz: Pope Benedict’s Questionable Qualifications

Bill Berkowitz asks about Benedict, and I kid you not,

“How many Nazi salutes did he give? How many times did “Sieg Heil” come out of his mouth? How many Jews did he see rousted from their homes and carted off to the death camps of Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Maidanek, and Dachau? ”

He doesn’t, however, mention that Ratzinger was just a child when he was forcibly recruited to join the Nazi Youth and that he eventually went A.W.O.L. He doesn’t mention that Ratzinger’s father was anti-nazi and they were forced to flee Nazi persecution. He does this, of course, with full knowledge of what the truth is only to assisante his character. This nonsense is coming from the same journal that claims that religion is the last shackle of the mind.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll continue to ring it from the top of the hills, some people are OBSESSED with the zipper. They could give a hoot about the assumption of mary, the trinity, or Mary as the “Co-Mediatrix”. I really miss the heretics of yesteryear who actually cared about the faith. At least we could agree on sin. And come on, seriously, how many candidates for the episcopacy actually “hinted of marxism”? I wanna know how many JP2 passed up. My guess is that little tag wa simply added just to spice up the deviant sexuality.

And the best part of this quote is the not-so-subtle-snobism. If we’ve got mentally challenged bishops, I’d like some names named. I wanna know who these people are. Oh wait, it was a baseless accusation. Don’t ever forget the mantra of so many on the left and and the right of religion: “People are only intelligent if they agree with your theology.”

What’s the pope been up to this week? Well, besides sending support to Tsunami victims, decrying no fault catholic divorces, he had a little run in with the Holy Spirit. That’s right, the Holy Father got into a shoving match with a dove! An eight year old boy and girl were attempting to release a group of doves alongside the pope over St. Peter’s square, but apparently, the doves didn’t want to fly out into the frigid weather. The pope even went so far as to grab one of the doves and attempt to shoo it out, but to no avail. When finally released, they circled right back to the window.
