So I met Obama this past week. I made sure to shake his and and he said, “Keep up the good work.” I took it not as a cliched canned interaction by a Senator that meets literally thousands of people who potentially “do good work”, but instead a value judgement based upon his in-depth knowledge of my work as an educator.
“Keep up the good work.”
I said, “Okay. Thank you for your time, Senator.”
I rock.
FYI- It was not the canned remark of a Senator, but rather the canned remark of one running for president. Good thing my goddaughter wasn’t their, because he would have tried to kiss her. Ruby would have then said, “Obama, you betray me with a kiss?” ; )
Maybe he thinks teaching is “good work.” So by teaching, you are doing “good work.”
(Whether you do that “good work” well or poorly, that’s another story.)
Brian,
He seemed like a nice enough guy. I’m just going around telling everyone that Obama said I do good work, so don’t question me. The kids at my school idolize him, so I keep referring to his “approval” of my teaching, in jest.
That should be the campaign bumper sticker you put on your car:
“OBAMA ‘08: He seemed like a nice enough guy.”
don’t listen to these chumps trying to bring you down b/c they weren’t complimented by Obama. and the one about the bumper sticker, you need to get a life and leave my teacher alone. Mr. Frank\lin is a good teacher.
Thanks for the backup Edward! mcMuller is a good friend of mine and was merely teasing me!
