(DV) Berkowitz: Pope Benedict’s Questionable Qualifications
Bill Berkowitz asks about Benedict, and I kid you not,
“How many Nazi salutes did he give? How many times did “Sieg Heil†come out of his mouth? How many Jews did he see rousted from their homes and carted off to the death camps of Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Maidanek, and Dachau? ”
He doesn’t, however, mention that Ratzinger was just a child when he was forcibly recruited to join the Nazi Youth and that he eventually went A.W.O.L. He doesn’t mention that Ratzinger’s father was anti-nazi and they were forced to flee Nazi persecution. He does this, of course, with full knowledge of what the truth is only to assisante his character. This nonsense is coming from the same journal that claims that religion is the last shackle of the mind.
